ReplyDeleteThx for yr comments, Gwendolyn. Detroit, being from there, yes, v. difficult. Portland is a sort of special place in regards to left political poetry and event-making that people will support (with at least token $).

Keep us posted on getting things together out there. I'd certainly like to see the poetry scene in Detroit come alive with a larger event - been a long time since the scene & its dire stakes were regionally visible.
Seems to me it's the difficulty of swimming upstream while under such constant distress. Difficult to bring people together in such a depressed environment, & ironically this very set of stakes makes aesthetic & other interventions that much more sorely needed...
